For this project, I was tasked with creating a poster showcasing a current event at my college. I chose to feature the play Real Women Have Curves, which tells the story of five Latina women working in a rundown sewing factory. As they struggle to make ends meet, they also face personal and societal challenges. Told from the perspective of Ana, the youngest among them, the play explores themes of body image, womanhood, and resilience. Through their shared experiences, the women support one another, overcoming hardships and finding strength beyond physical appearance.
RESEARCH
During my research, I was drawn to poster designs that featured vibrant colors and creative font choices. I noticed that simpler layouts made it easier to read the key information, which I believe is the most important aspect of an event flyer. This insight guided my design decisions, ensuring that clarity and visual appeal worked hand in hand.

SKETCHES
For my sketches, I began by determining the essential information for the flyer: the title, date, time, location, description, and call to action. I felt that the title, date & time, and call to action needed the most emphasis, so I structured my composition around these key elements to ensure they stood out effectively.

FINAL DESIGN
For my final design, I wanted to choose a poster that featured textiles and patterns reflecting a distinct Latina essence. I was torn between Sketch 8 and Sketch 11, but ultimately, I chose the design with a simpler composition that emphasized the information rather than intricate details. This choice also gave me more creative freedom to experiment with bold font selections and a vibrant color palette, allowing those elements to stand out within the clean layout.
